Introduction to Seoke

Seoke (Ntakwetoga) is a National Heritage site located in the South-East District of Botswana. The site lies along the various hills of the Lobatse Estates freehold farm, located between Lobatse Town and the South-East Border with South Africa.

The name Seoke has been translated as “a large and powerful animal” (seoka), but is more likely to mean “something which entices or lures”, similar to Ntakwetoga (“a surprise, something come into view”), the Kgatla baga Mmanaana term for the same site.
