Brenda Maina

Brenda Maina participated in the Metsemegologolo projects as a Master’s student at the University of Pretoria. Brenda’s Master’s dissertation assessed the use of an exploratory digital environment for learning about southern African pre-colonial urbanism in space and time - using Seoke, capital of the Bangwaketse, in late 18th century Botswana, as a case study. This research utilised story mapping and mediums such as photos, videos, 3D visualizations and maps of Seoke to teach participants; and then evaluated their learning performance. This research then reported on learner performance findings, to inform best practices for the further development of digital learning platforms about pre-colonial southern African history.
